Go on an unforgettable 8-day Moroccan tour that takes you from bustling cities to the serene Sahara. This comprehensive tour is designed to showcase the incredible diversity of Morocco, offering a perfect blend of ancient history, breathtaking natural landscapes, and rich cultural immersion. You’ll journey from the vibrant energy of Marrakech, across the majestic Atlas Mountains, to the golden dunes of the Sahara Desert, then north through imperial cities to the blue-washed alleys of Chefchaouen, finally concluding along the stunning Atlantic Coast. This itinerary provides a deep and authentic experience of Morocco’s most iconic destinations.
Our incredible 8-day Moroccan odyssey begins with an early departure from Marrakech. We will immediately ascend into the majestic High Atlas Mountains, navigating the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Consequently, there will be several opportunities to pause and absorb breathtaking panoramic views of the rugged landscape.
Historic and Cinematic Landscapes
Next, our journey continues to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah that has famously served as a backdrop for films like “Gladiator.” After lunch, we proceed through Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa.” Finally, our route takes us through the fragrant Rose Valley before arriving in Boumalne Dades for a tranquil evening, where we will check into our accommodation and enjoy dinner.
After a delicious breakfast, we journey deeper into southern Morocco. Our first stop is the magnificent Todra Gorge, where you can enjoy a leisurely walk to appreciate the immense scale of this natural marvel.
A Magical Night in the Desert
Subsequently, we continue our drive towards the mystical Sahara. Upon arrival in Merzouga, a camel caravan will carry you across the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes. This authentic experience allows you to witness a breathtaking Saharan sunset. Afterwards, we settle into our traditional desert camp for a magical night filled with Berber music under a star-studded canopy.
An early wake-up call is richly rewarded with a magnificent desert sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, we bid farewell to the desert and begin our journey northward.
From Desert Oasis to Imperial City
Our route first traces the path of the impressive Ziz Valley, a stunning oasis of palm groves. We then ascend into the Middle Atlas Mountains, pausing for lunch in Midelt. As we travel through the ancient cedar forests near Azrou, keep an eye out for playful Barbary apes. Finally, we pass through the alpine-style town of Ifrane before concluding our day in the legendary imperial city of Fes.
Today, we trade the ancient history of Fes for the picturesque landscapes of the Rif Mountains. Our captivating destination is Chefchaouen, the enchanting ‘Blue Pearl’ of Morocco.
Exploring the Blue Medina
We are scheduled to arrive in the afternoon. Afterwards, the rest of the day is entirely yours to immerse yourself in its spellbinding, blue-washed medina. Enjoy getting lost in its serene, azure-hued alleys, discovering new photo opportunities around every corner.
After a leisurely breakfast in Chefchaouen, we depart for the coast. Our first stop is Tetouan, the “White Dove,” celebrated for its exquisite Hispano-Moorish architecture and UNESCO-listed medina.
Gateway to the Strait of Gibraltar
Later, we continue to Tangier, the mythical gateway where Africa and Europe meet. Upon arrival, you will have free time to begin exploring this bustling, historic port city and soak in its unique atmosphere.
This morning, we journey south along the beautiful Atlantic coastline. Our destination is the charming artistic seaside town of Asilah, renowned for its well-preserved, white-washed medina.
An Open-Air Art Gallery
What truly sets Asilah apart are the vibrant murals that adorn its walls, effectively transforming the entire city into an open-air gallery. You’ll have ample time to explore its historic ramparts and soak in the tranquil, bohemian atmosphere.
Our scenic coastal drive continues south to Morocco’s elegant political capital, Rabat. Upon arrival, a guided tour will introduce you to its most significant landmarks.
A Capital of History and Modernity
We will visit the iconic Hassan Tower and the elegant Mausoleum of Mohammed V. This exploration beautifully showcases Rabat’s unique blend of rich Islamic history and sophisticated modern design. Afterwards, you will settle into your hotel for the night.
On our final morning, we travel to the bustling metropolis of Casablanca. Here, a significant highlight awaits: the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the world, majestically overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The best time to visit Morocco generally depends on the region you plan to explore. For most of the country, spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) offer pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for sightseeing in cities like Marrakech and Fes, as well as hiking in the Atlas Mountains. Summer (June to August) can be extremely hot, especially in the desert and inland cities, while winter (November to March) can be cool, with snow in the mountains and occasional rain.
The official currency of Morocco is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). You cannot legally import or export Dirhams, so you’ll need to exchange money upon arrival. ATMs are widely available in cities and larger towns, and credit cards are accepted in many hotels, restaurants, and shops, though cash is preferred for smaller purchases and in souks (markets). It’s a good idea to carry small denominations of Dirhams for tips and street vendors.
Morocco is a predominantly Muslim country, and it’s respectful to dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites. For women, this typically means covering shoulders and knees, and avoiding overly revealing clothing. Loose-fitting trousers, long skirts, and tops with sleeves are good choices. Men should also opt for modest attire. In more touristy areas and hotels, dress codes can be more relaxed, but it’s always better to err on the side of caution.
It is generally not recommended to drink tap water in Morocco. While many locals drink it, visitors may be more susceptible to stomach upsets due to different bacteria. Bottled water is widely available and inexpensive, and it’s best to use it for drinking, brushing teeth, and even rinsing fruit.
While many Moroccans involved in tourism speak English, knowing a few basic phrases in Moroccan Arabic (Darija) or French can greatly enhance your experience:
